SALINAS — Imagine being at the dentist’s office for a root canal when the dentist working on your tooth is suddenly whisked away by police. Now imagine being the dentist.
Such was a day in the life of Dr. Gary Klugman (65) when detectives from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office turned up and arrested him on charges of child pornography.
Monterey County Sheriff’s Office detectives had begun a month-long investigation after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen about the possible possession of child porn. Armed with a search warrant, investigators entered his office at 935 Blanco Circle as well as his home in Salinas to search his computers.
Hundreds of child pornography images were discovered on computers at both locations.
At this time, no evidence has been discovered that any of his patients are victims.
