Alyssa Nunes and Cassidy Montelee Cuellar
The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office has a man in custody for allegedly resisting arrest and attacking a deputy.
According to the sheriff’s office, they received a call around 7:50 p.m. last Thursday regarding a man who was threatening to assault his neighbor. The call was from a residence in Shandon on the 200 block of N. Third St.
The couple inside the residence reported the suspect was on their lawn issuing threats and one point threatened to have his dog attack them. By the time deputies arrived, the suspect had left the area.
With eyewitness accounts, investigators determined the suspect was Cassidy Montelee Cuellar, 29, of Shandon. Deputies were able to locate Cuellar at his residence in the 300 block of N. 2nd Street in Shandon.
When deputies attempted to make a contact with Cuellar, they were met by a large aggressive dog behind a locked gate.
Deputies stated the suspect came out of his house, but was immediately confrontational by cursing and threatening to kill the deputies.
The suspect even grabbed his pit bull and threatened to have his dog attack deputies. Cuellar then jumped on top of his fence and continued to threaten deputies. However, deputies were able to get him down from the fence. Cuellar resisted by striking, kicking and biting the deputies.
Deputies activated a Taser to subdue Cuellar as he continued to physically resist. They then handcuffed Cuellar but he continued to make threats against the deputies.
During the struggle, Cuellar’s girlfriend, identified as Alyssa Ralyn Nunes, 21, of Bakersfield attempted to interfere by yelling, screaming and trying to restrain the deputies.
The suspect and two deputies were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. Cuellar was transported and booked into SLO County Jail on charges of felony resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer. Nunes was booked for obstructing an officer and being drunk in public.
