Christian Tressa
LOMA LINDA – A 23-year-old man charged with abusing a month-old baby boy will appear in court on Tuesday, facing one count of assaulting a child.
Christian Tressa, of Loma Linda, was taken into custody one day after his unnamed son was taken to the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital on January 25. The last report was that the child was comatose.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the hospital that same day, the day after the alleged attack occurred at around 10:30 p.m.
Central station detectives, led by Kathy Oros, initiated the investigation that involved Tressa, the biological father of the baby.
Reportedly, Tressa was home alone on Sunday night, January 24, with both the baby and his one-year-old son. Reports are that the victim fell from a rocking bassinet which was on top of an ottoman. The next morning, the victim had visible bruising on his face.
When the victim’s mother returned home on the 11100 block of San Mateo Drive in Loma Linda, she wanted to take him to the hospital. Tressa reportedly did not want to go, but they finally took the baby in the late afternoon hours.
Medical personnel reported the baby had a catastrophic brain injury which had resulted in lapsing into a coma.
According to reports, the severe multiple injuries were not consistent with a fall from such a short distance. Investigators from Child Protective Services took over the case.
Once the investigation took place, it led to Tressa’s arrest on charges of child abuse involving great bodily injury resulting in a comatose state. The case is being charged as a felony. Bail was set at $500,000.
