PETALUMA – According to a Petaluma Police Department (PPD) Press Release issued Monday, February 15, a police pursuit led to the arrest of two suspects.
At approximately 12:25 A.M. on Monday, Officer Hansen of the PPD was conducting a neighborhood patrol in the vicinity of Lauren Drive and Renee Drive when an older model black Nissan sedan was observed driving eastbound on Lauren Drive with no rear license plate. Officer Hansen activated his emergency lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield and continued eastbound on E. Madison Drive.
The suspect then turned southbound on Sonoma Mountain Parkway and continued to drive southbound at approximately 40 mph. The suspect continued southbound on Ely Road when, just before the intersection of Ely Road and Weaverly Drive, a passenger tossed an object out of the front window.
Officers later discovered the thrown object and found it to be a loaded firearm. A later records check revealed that the recovered firearm was reported stolen out of Florida.
The pursued vehicle continued westbound on Weaverly Drive and failed to stop at two stop signs. Additional PPD units joined the pursuit when the driver of the pursued vehicle pulled to the side of the roadway in the 500 block of S. McDowell Blvd. The passenger exited the vehicle and fled eastbound jumping backyard fences into the neighborhood.
The driver was ordered from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. The passenger was located and taken into custody a few blocks away by officers patrolling the area.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 21-year-old Jameelah Renee Garry of Oakland. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Deonte Delano Bradford, also of Oakland. Garry and Bradford are facing charges of evading arrest, possession of a loaded firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm. Both have been booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
