FRESNO – Police are searching for a man they say ran over his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend in northwest Fresno on Friday.
Officers responded to a call of a collision involving a pedestrian at Logan Park near Barstow and Marks avenues on Friday around 10 a.m. They discovered a 28-year-old man bleeding in the parking lot.
The victim, who is recovering at Community Regional Medical Center, was with his 22-year-old girlfriend in the park when the suspect drove by. The suspect allegedly pointed at the couple and drove his silver Honda into the parking lot.
The victim walked into the parking lot, at which point the suspect accelerated and hit the victim with the front of his car, which threw the victim against the windshield, according to police.
The suspect allegedly continued to drive several yards with the victim on his windshield before the man fell off and landed in the parking lot. The suspect then fled the scene, authorities said.
The victim suffered a broken leg, head injuries, abrasions to his head, and a back injury, but the injuries are not life-threatening.
Police say the assailant is 23-year-old Anthony Rangel. He is wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and violating a restraining order that prohibited him from any contact with his former girlfriend.
