Police display confiscated cocaine
BAKERSFIELD — One man is in custody after police bust up a Bakersfield cocaine ring last Wednesday evening in central Bakersfield.
Zelvin Jackson, a Bakersfield resident was booked into the Kern Jail for charges related to possession of controlled substances and possession of controlled substances for sales.
His bail has not been set.
According to the Kern County Sheriff Office’s, officers from the Departments California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team, along with officers with the STC High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, as well as deputies from the Sheriff’s Gang Unit and the Kern County Probation Department, assisted in the service of a search warrant in the 200 Block of 9th Street at around 5 p.m. on March 9.
“The arrest was the conclusion of a extensive investigation into the sales of rock cocaine within the Bakersfield area,” said Public Information Officer Ray Pruitt. “It’s part of an overall effort to do everything we can to minimize the effects that drugs have on our community.”
Investigators said that during the early stages of their investigation, they were able to identify Jackson as a possible suspect involved with the distribution of rock Cocaine from the residence.
“During the search, officers discovered suspected rock cocaine packaged for sales, items indicative of the sales of narcotics and cash,” Pruitt said.
