HOLLISTER — Police have arrested 18-year-old Anyssa Lopez for her part in an assault that took place on Friday night behind a Shell Gas Station. An unnamed 17-year-old suspect was also booked as an accomplice.
On Friday night at about 7:20 PM, police were called to Dunne Park on a report of a strong-arm robbery. Officers arrived at the park (which, at this point, was after park hours) and located two people believed to be possible suspects.
They had also received information that the victim of the incident was being treated at a local hospital.
The officers visited the hospital to speak with the victim, who told them that he’d been walking behind the gas station when a group of people began to accost him. During the attack, the suspects allegedly stole his belongings while yelling out gang slurs.
When asked to identify the assailants, the descriptions provided matched the two subjects detained earlier in the park. The victim was able to positively identify Anyssa Lopez and the 17-year-old juvenile as two of his attackers.
The juvenile was also found to have been in possession of a dirk/dagger.
Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident. Lopez was booked into San Benito County Jail on charges of robbery, while the 17-year-old was taken to San Benito County Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery and possession of a concealed dirk/dagger.
