TEMECULA – Two armed robbery suspects were shot after attempting to flee authorities.
At 11:00 AM, a victim contacted authorities reporting a robbery near the intersection of Orange Avenue and Perris Boulevard, in the city of Perris. The incident involved three adult male suspects, which the victim stated robbed him at knifepoint and then fled the scene in a white, late-model SUV.
When an officer arrived to assist the victim, the suspect vehicle was identified and followed into a residential neighborhood where it stopped near the intersection of Shark Street and Mako Lane.
As the officer attempted to detain the suspects, the driver left the vehicle and fled. The officer fired at the suspect and the two remaining two suspects drove away.
The driver was identified as Patrick Shaw, an 18-year-old resident of Moreno Valley. Shaw taken into custody without further incident and was not injured.
The two additional suspects only made it a short distance before colliding with a curb and also fleeing the vehicle on foot.
After a short foot pursuit officers apprehended a second suspect within the 400 block of Dale Street. Desean Stamps, a 21-year-old male resident of San Diego, suffered from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound that occurred during the initial traffic stop.
Officers provided medical attention and Stamps was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
Assisted by the Riverside County SWAT team, the officers conducted a search of the residential area and located the third suspect, Jordan Swanson, a 20-year-old resident of San Diego, within the 1000 block of Dolphin Drive.
Swanson was taken into custody and also sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound from the initial traffic stop. Swanson was provided medical treatment and taken to a local area hospital.
Patrick Shaw will be booked for armed robbery and conspiracy.
After medical treatment, Desean Stamps and Jordan Swanson will also be booked for armed robbery and conspiracy at the Robert Presley Detention Center in the city of Riverside.
No officers were injured during the incident.
