Jason Michael Atkins
The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office, while assisting the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s (CDCR) Fugitive Apprehension Team, arrested a wanted parolee on Monday.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, they were requested to assist in the apprehension of a wanted parolee, Jason Michael Atkins, 36, Cambria.
It is unknown why Atkins was wanted by the CDCR Fugitive Apprehension Team.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies spotted Atkins as a passenger of a vehicle. The vehicle was driving in San Luis Obispo near the area of Walnut and Peach streets.
When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Atkins fled the vehicle. A search for Atkins was initiated that included sheriff’s deputies, a sheriff’s K9, SLO Police Officers, CHP and Cal Fire.
A short time later, Atkins was located hiding in the garage of a residence on Peach Street. He was taken into custody without incident.
Atkins was transported and booked at SLO County Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, obstructing, resisting arrest, evading an officer and violation of parole.
