Coachella Police Arrest Two Easter Sunday Drivers Suspected of DUIs
COACHELLA – In two separate incidents, drivers believed to have been under the influence of something stronger than Easter candy were arrested for driving erratically in Coachella.
Coachella police report that on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at 8:23 P.M. they were called to a collision in the 51800 block of Hernandez St. A red Ford F150 was traveling northbound on Hernandez Street when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck two parked cars.
Officers found the driver of the Ford F150, Jose Aguilar, 54 years old of Coachella, at the scene and evaluated him for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and /or drugs. Aguilar was arrested and taken to a local area hospital as a precaution prior to being booked into the Indio Jail.
Later in the evening at 10:49 P.M., Coachella police were again called to the scene of someone driving erratically in 50600 block of Avenida Adobe. Officers arrived to find that a green Chevrolet Silverado pickup which was reportedly doing “donuts” on the roadway had struck a tree when the driver lost control.
The driver fled the area on foot before officers arrived. Coachella police officers searched the area and located Diego Aguilar, 21 years of Coachella, who was believed to be the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado. Aguilar was evaluated for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol/and or drugs and believed to be intoxicated. The suspect was then was arrested and taken to a local area hospital as a precaution prior to being booked into the Indio Jail for charges of DUI and hit and run.
