Novato Hospital Alerts San Rafael PD of Shooting Victim
SAN RAFAEL – According to a press release issued by the San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) on April 5th, SRPD Detectives responded to a report of a shooting victim who had driven himself to the Emergency Room at the Novato Community Hospital.
The victim was identified as a 34-year-old resident of San Rafael. His wounds were not life threatening. He was treated for his injuries and was later released.
The victim told Detectives that he had been walking in the Canal neighborhood of San Rafael the previous evening (Monday, March 4th) in the vicinity of Verdi Street and Belvedere Street when two black males driving a white car approached him. The suspects exited their vehicle and allegedly robbed the victim. In the course of the robbery one of the suspects shot the victim in the leg.
The victim told Detectives that one of the suspects had warned him not to call the police.
SRPD Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators canvassed the neighborhood for evidence of the robbery and shooting and are continuing with their investigations.
