PETALUMA – According to a community bulletin issued by the Petaluma Police Department (PPD) on April 8th, PPD Officers responded to a robbery in progress at the Ulta Salon in the East Washington Place Shopping Center.
Ulta Loss Prevention had previously alerted store employees about an incident that had occurred at a Santa Rosa store earlier in the day. The employees noted that a woman matching the description was filling up bags with approximately $2000 in beauty products.
The suspect then asked employees to use a bathroom. Employees asked the suspect to leave her bags before using the bathroom but she refused and became belligerent. The suspect then attempted to leave the store though employees blocked the door and asked the suspect to leave the items that she had taken behind.
The suspect suddenly and violently attacked the employees before dropping the items that she had not paid for. She pushed out of the store but then tried to regain entry to the store. Employees locked the doors to prevent her from re-entering. The suspect then threatened to find out which cars the employees were driving and that she would return to “kill them.”
PPD Officers arriving on the scene stopped the vehicle that the suspect had entered. Officers found her seated in the rear of the vehicle holding her infant daughter.
The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Karina Gonzales-Flores of Santa Rosa. She was found to have an outstanding felony warrant and was arrested and transported to Sonoma County Jail for the warrant and an additional robbery charge.
