Sex Offender Arrested, More Charges Added
Mark Jeddell Cater
The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office added more charges to a known sex offender.
According to the sheriff’s office, Mark Jeddell Cater, 45, of Madera was featured on its Most Wanted Wednesday post on Facebook on March 16. Cater failed to register as a sex offender.
Once the post appeared, the sheriff’s office received tips regarding Cater’s location. Cater was discovered in Madera where he was arrested and transported and booked at county jail.
An investigation linked Cater to a child molestation case involving a 12-year-old girl in Nipomo in 2013.
As a result, Cater now faces 10 additional charges of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 years old.
Cater was also arrested for violating his probation for an unrelated domestic violence incident. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying any other potential victims in this case by calling the SLO Sheriff’s Office at 781-4500.
