Nathan Taylor
Santa Barbara County – Compulsive behaviors often elude rational analysis, particularly when the behavior in question is, by its very nature, irrational itself.
And when those behaviors are repeated in the face of prior experience with serious consequences attached to them, they become truly inexplicable.
That said, when law enforcement is called upon to respond to reports of such behavior, the reasons behind it are of little interest to those charged with getting it to stop.
So when, according to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Kelly Hoover, in the early evening of April 8th, deputies working out of the Santa Maria Sheriff’s Substation responded to “a report of a person who was masturbating in front of a juvenile victim,” they were not particularly surprised to catch 32-year-old Nathan Taylor red-faced and red-handed.
Taylor, a resident of Santa Maria, had been arrested just two months prior “for the same offense” at the local YMCA, and had been implicated as enjoying the pleasure of his own company in a local area public park in October, 2015.
Taylor was taken into custody and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was charged with indecent exposure. Hoover indicated that “the case will be forwarded to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office,” where additional charges may be forthcoming.
As there are concerns of additional unreported victims, detectives of the Santa Maria Sheriff’s Substation ask for citizen information of Taylor’s activities or of the circumstances of this case to be left on the SBSD anonymous tip line at (805) 681-4171.
