Off-Duty Firefighter’s Report Takes Repeat DUI Offender Off Petaluma Streets

PETALUMA – According to an advisory message issued by the Petaluma Police Department (PPD), on Sunday, May 8th, just before 7am, an off-duty Petaluma firefighter reported following a suspected driver under the influence (DUI) in the vicinity of Petaluma Boulevard North and Stony Point Road.
The firefighter reported that a white hatchback traveling south on Petaluma Boulevard North was swerving and driving on the shoulder of the roadway. The firefighter was able to provide dispatch with a license plate number after following the vehicle.
Responding PPD officers located the vehicle in the area and conducted a traffic stop for suspicion of DUI. The driver was found to have an open container in the vehicle and he was exhibiting signs of driving while intoxicated. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was ultimately arrested for DUI.
The driver was identified as Narcisco Roman, a 43-year-old Petaluma resident. A records check revealed that this was Roman’s 3rd DUI arrest in ten years. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail for DUI and his bail has been set at $50,000.
