A man in Madera was arrested for child sex crimes.
Per the official report released by the Madera County Department of Corrections, 26-year-old Jesus Lopez Jr. was arrested on two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old and contacts with or communications with a minor with intent. The arrest was made by officers of the Madera Police Department.
According to MPD Det. Sgt. Johnny Smith, Lopez had communicated with his victim via texting to convince her that he was her same age and meet up with him. Afterwards, he allegedly tried to have sex with the girl.
Lopez is being held on $690,000 bail. If convicted, he will face a lengthy sentence and live out the rest of his days as a registered sex offender in accordance with Megan’s Law.
