SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department reported the suspicious death of a man found in a garbage can on May 21. The SJPD Department is now speaking up about the arrest of a possible suspect, the man’s own son. According to police records, 21-year-old Anthony James Torrez-Castro was arrested on May 22, just two days after the beaten body of his father, 44-year-old Anthony Ray Castro, was discovered.
According to the San Jose Police Department’s Press Information Officer Sgt. Enrique Garcia, on Friday, May 20, at 6:50 PM, San Jose Police officers responded to the 500 block of Bonita Avenue on a report of a possible dead body.
Once officers arrived, an adult male victim was found deceased and dumped into a trash can.
Follow-up investigation revealed that the victim had been bludgeoned to death. This marks the city’s 3rd homicide this year. There have been several incidents in the recent past in San Jose involving a parent being attacked by their child.
On May 11 a mentally ill man, 26-year-old Daniel Rynazewski, attacked his mother with an ax.
On April 27, two brothers, 22-year-old Hasib Golamrabbi, and 17-year-old Omar Golamrabbi, who is being charged as an adult, were arrested for the shooting death of their mother and father — 57-year-old Shamima Rabbi and her husband, 59-year-old Golam Rabbi.
On April 21, 43-year-old Jason McKenna retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his father, 68-year-old Ronald McKenna to death.
