Salinas Man Chases Patrol Officer Over Ticket, Gets Arrested for Assault
Marco Suarez
SALINAS — Police arrested 22-year-old Marco Suarez after he threatened one of their own over a parking ticket with which he vehemently disagreed.
Last Tuesday, May 25, at about 1:30 PM, a community service officer responded to several citizens’ complaints about cars parking in the red zone in the 2300 area of North Main Street.
She cited one car and began to drive off on her patrol scooter when she noticed the owner (Suarez) walk over to the car and grab the ticket, visibly irate. She continued to drive southbound. Suarez then got into his car and drove after her.
When Suarez caught up to her, he tried to swerve into her lane and run her off the road. She took evasive action to avoid being injured, yet Suarez continued to drive erratically until they reached traffic at North Main Street and Boronda Road.
That was where he turned off and discontinued the chase. However, police were able to race the ticket back to Suarez and arrest him. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
