PAJARO VALLEY — Members of the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (SCCACT) and the Narcotics Tastk Force (NTF), along with officers from the Watsonville Police Department, served a search warrant at 38 Susan Court in the Pajaro area of Monterey County. They left with 51-year-old Rene Medina and 49-year-old Mario Medina in cuffs over numerous drug-related charges.
On the morning on Friday, May 20, at approximately 9 o’clock, the three agencies came knocking at the door and, during a search of the home, found two pounds of methamphetamine, 10.6 grams of heroin, cash, scales, and evidence of sales.
In one of the rooms, authorities found a loaded Ruger .40 caliber pistol with its serial number removed, as well as a .22 caliber Winchester rifle. Police were acting on tips that came from complaints from nearby residents about illegal drug sales.
The brothers were taken and booked into Monterey County Jail in Salinas. Rene faces charges of possession of a loaded firearm and a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a gun with an altered serial number, possession of a firearm with prior conviction, possession of an unregistered gun with ammo, possession of a firearm with prior felony weapons conviction, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition.
Mario faces lesser charges of possession, as well as possession with prior sale/transportation convictions.
