West Valley Detention Center
RANCHO CUCAMONGA – A man looking to visit his wife at the West Valley Detention Center was arrested by deputies on three charges, including coming to the jail in a stolen vehicle.
Ruben Philip Romero, 32, was taken into custody after showing up on Saturday, June 11, apparently looking for his wife, who was possibly at the jail facility.
Shortly after 2 p.m. on June 11, Romero drove a blue 1994 Honda Accord to the guard shack at the jail facility. He advised deputies at the check-in point that he wanted to see his wife and was asked for identification. Unable to provide his driver’s license, deputies conducted a records check that revealed Romero’s license had expired.
It was also discovered the car he was driving had been reported stolen.
When deputies further checked, it was revealed that the Honda driven by Romero had been reported stolen one day earlier.
During a search of Romero, he was found to be carrying methamphetamine. In the car, deputies discovered an opened bottle of beer and drug paraphernalia.
Romero faced a San Bernardino County Superior Court date in Rancho Cucamonga this week.
He was charged with being in possession of a stolen car, bringing a controlled substance into a jail facility and also bringing alcohol into a jail facility.
