Mark Pompa and Gina Estrada
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY — The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department’s Compliance Response Team, a hard-charging unit devoted to the enforcement of post-release provisions of those who have been convicted of serious crimes, works closely with the SBSD Special Investigations Bureau as well as assorted substations throughout the county.
The effectiveness of their coordinated efforts is inarguable, and was proved once again on June 8th with the arrests of seven individuals found to be in violation of the terms of their probation or parole.
According to SBSD Public Information Officer Kelly Hoover, the CRT and the SIB had “developed information regarding the whereabouts of a wanted person” suspected to be residing in a Santa Maria neighborhood.
With search warrant in hand, deputies announced themselves at the W. Bethel Lane residence and immediately observed a number of occupants attempting to flee the premises. All were promptly detained, two of whom were the subject of arrest warrants, while others were suspected to be in violation of weapons and drug laws.
Arrested at the scene on a charge of parole violation was Santa Maria resident Mark Pompa, 27, who was transported to Santa Barbara County Jail and additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Taken for a ride to County Jail along with Pompa, were Santa Maria residents Gina Estrada, 46, Arturo Murillo, 21, and Francisco Pacheco-Martinez, 24. All were charged variously with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, being an addict in possession of a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine.
