SALINAS — A Salinas man is in hot water once again after a joint investigation between Salinas and Galt police, as well as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, discovered that he was attempting to solicit the company of young girls over the internet.
On June 16th (Thursday), Salinas police came knocking on 27-year-old Jonathan Michael Busby’s front door in the 400 block of Boeing to serve a search warrant pursuant to the investigation. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Cybertip Unit had contacted both Salinas and Galt police after reports that Busby had been engaged in inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old girl.
Busby had allegedly set up an account on MeetMe.com under the guise of being a 13-year-old boy. The two contacted each other and he allegedly requested photographs, which she is said to have sent.
Busby was found asleep in his home, and was promptly taken into custody. All electronics were seized and turned over to the computer forensics unit. He is now housed at the Monterey County Jail on charges of contacting a minor with the intent to offend, as well as probation violations relating to a 2013 conviction out of San Benito County.
