In the early afternoon of July 6th, a 99-year-old man was held at gunpoint and robbed inside his residence on Tournament Road in Valencia by two suspects.
Authorities were quick to the scene as soon as they received notification, which led to the arrests of the suspects.
According to the report, when a Santa Clarita Valley deputy arrived at the scene “he noticed a man matching the description of the suspect getting into a car parked near the victim’s residence.”
The deputy said that the suspect was “acting nervous and sweating profusely.” The deputy detained the suspect and discovered he had a $75,000 misdemeanor warrant. The deputy then searched the car and found heroin and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was identified as Angel Romo, 25 of Mission Hills.
Nearby, another suspect was located and detained. The second suspect, working with the other suspect that had robbed the old man’s residence, had moved on to another residence.
The second suspect was detained and identified as Courtney Waller, 25 of Canyon Country.
The victim reportedly had his car stolen as well. Deputies were able to locate the stolen vehicle on the 24000 block of Avenida Crescenta. Inside the car police found the victim’s stolen property and a 12 gauge shotgun case.
Charges on the duo included, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft, felon in possession of firearm, false imprisonment, and intimidating a victim.
Both were held a $100,000 bail and were due in court on Friday in San Fernando, according to records.
