Andrew Arreola Sr and Andrew Arreola Jr
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY — Several trite (yet tried-and-true) adages come to mind in weighing the evidence leading to the July 27th arrests of 52-year-old Andrew Arreola Sr., and his 32-year-old son Andrew Arreola Jr., both residents of Santa Maria.
“Like father, like son,” and “the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree” might well apply to the two men who were contacted by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau and the SBSD Compliance Response Team pursuant to outstanding warrants for the younger man.
As deputies conducted a search of the Arreola residence, they made contact with both Arreola Jr.’s young daughter and the child’s mother, 32-year-old Kristin Azevedo.
During the search, “a loaded short-barreled shotgun and an unloaded SKS style rifle with a high capacity magazine” were found, along with other firearms and “drugs and drug paraphernalia,” all accessible to the child in the residence.
Pursuant to those findings, Arreola Sr. and Arreola Jr. were transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where they were booked on charges of being felons in possession of a firearm, being felons in possession of ammunition, and child endangerment.
For her part, Azevedo was taken into custody and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail for booking on a charge of child endangerment, while the family children were taken to a local hospital “for a medical evaluation.”
