Team of Task Forces Capture Storage Burglary and Narcotics Suspects Duo
POMONA – Renae Leann Wilcox (44) of La Verne and Timothy John Fessler (36) of Azusa entered the Route 66 Self Storage facility in La Verne on July 17, 2016 and burglarized an anonymous female victim’s entire storage unit, removing an estimated $23,000 worth of personal and household items.
Part of the theft was captured on video surveillance showing Fessler and Wilcox removing the victim’s property and placing it in their storage unit and trailer, which was also stored on the premises.
Sergeant Marcus Perez said, “The Burglary Crimes Task Force: Detectives Deon Brown and Chris Blank, and the Major Crimes Task Force (a special problems unit) were assigned to Pomona PD, due to the vast amount of properties, amount of the burglary, and multiple locations of the search warrants.”
The efficiency and teaming of the task forces led to the victim being able to identify and recover her belongings at the scene of the suspects’ storage unit, a large fifth-wheel trailer, and the suspects’ home in La Verne.
Perez noted, “It was a one-day operation on August 18, 2016, but comprehensive due to the work in the background – the warrants and weeks-long investigation.”
Perez concluded, “Search warrants also revealed evidence showing both suspects were actively engaged in the sales of narcotics – methamphetamine. The suspects were located at their residence and taken into custody without incident.”
Both suspects were arrested for 459 PC Burglary, 496 PC Possession of Stolen property and 11378 H/S Possession of Controlled Substance for Sale. Bail was set at $30,000 each.
