SANTA BARBARA COUNTY — The City of Orcutt, in the northern part of the county, has experienced a series of residential burglaries dating back to the Spring of this year.
Since March of 2016, law enforcement personnel from multiple agencies—the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol, the Santa Maria Police Department, and even the California Department of Fish and Game—have been involved in an ongoing investigation targeting those responsible for a series of daytime break-ins and associated thefts of cash and jewelry within the Orcutt community.
According to SBSD Public Information Officer Kelly Hoover, deputies monitoring social media feeds emanating from within the area “learned of a residential burglary that had occurred in the Orcutt area” on September 6th and promptly made contact with the alleged victim.
The ensuing interview with the victim led deputies to identify Orcutt resident Wendy Snow, age 44, as the principal suspect.
With that lead in hand, deputies located Snow at her residence, and it was quickly determined that she was a suspect “in six recent area burglaries,” a finding supported by the recovery of stolen items from her home.
Deputies promptly seized the stolen property as evidence of Snow’s nefarious activities throughout the region over recent weeks.
For her part, Snow was taken into custody and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where she was booked on a charge of residential burglary with her bail set at $50,000.
