Attempted Robbery at Panda Express

The San Luis Obispo Police Department are searching for a suspect who attempted to rob Panda Express last Friday afternoon.

According to SLOPD, they received a 911-call around 2:10 p.m. reporting an armed robbery that had just occurred inside the Panda Express, located at 1508 Froom Ranch Way.

Witnesses told police an unknown suspect, described as a white male in his twenties and wearing a black-ball cap, black t-shirt, black shorts with a blue medical type face mask, entered the restaurant through a side entrance.

The suspect then approached an employee behind the front counter near the cash register and displayed a black semi-automatic handgun. The suspect demanded money.

The employee told the suspect there was not any money in the drawer and suspect walked out the front of the business.

Employees told police they watched the suspect walk east along Los Osos Valley Road before crossing the street.
Employees said they lost sight of the suspect as he began crossing the street.

Because the suspect fled in close proximity to the Pacific Beach school campus they were placed on lockdown at 2:23 p.m.

Officers went to the school and cleared the campus. The lockdown was lifted at 2:44 p.m. after officer determined the suspect was not on campus.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the SLOPD at (805) 781-7312.
