Juan Vasquez (Bea Karnes -Pinole Patch)
PINOLE – Detectives from the Pinole Police Department transported Richmond resident Juan Vasquez, 31, to the Martinez Detention Facility on September 23, after police in Santa Maria located and arrested him.
Vasquez has been charged with rape of an unconscious person, false imprisonment with violence and residential burglary, in connection with an incident in Pinole that occurred in July.
Vasquez also had two outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants in Contra Costa County for a DUI charge and violation of probation. His bail has been set at $1,050,000.
The suspect fled the Bay Area to avoid arrest, after a woman reported being raped at the home of a mutual acquaintance, according to police, who received tips that suspect could be found in Santa Maria on the Central Coast.
“We received information gleaned from social media from a third-party that allowed us to identify where the suspect was living and a possible employer, said Pinole Sgt. Matt Avery. We worked with the Santa Maria PD and obtained a last known address for Vasquez and the investigation led Santa Maria PD to another residence, where they located Vasquez.”
He was temporarily held at the Santa Barbara County Jail, while he waited for Pinole detectives to pick him up.
