FRESNO COUNTY — Police have announced the arrest of 31-year-old Juan Rocha Molina, who is charged with attempted kidnapping and vehicle theft.
At approximately 8:30 AM on Monday, Molina approached a woman and her granddaughter outside their home and, using his keychain as a toy, attempted to lure the little girl to come with him. The girl’s grandmother intervened and ordered Molina to leave, which he did.
He then returned a short time later, again attempting to entice her with the keychain. This time, the woman took her granddaughter into her car, locked the doors, and called police. Molina fled again, but had stuck around long enough for the woman to provide dispatchers with a description of him and his vehicle.
Responding Sheriff’s Deputies found Molina sitting in his parked car in a church parking lot near N. Cornelia and W. Garland. He was detained, and it was discovered that the car had been reported stolen out of the city of Fresno.
Molina is currently housed at the Fresno County Jail with bail set at $85,000.
