LOS ANGELES – On Monday evening, police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the 1700 block of Olympic Boulevard.
Before they could arrive they learned that the 3-year-old victim was en route to the hospital with stab wounds.
Police then met the victim and her mother at the hospital, but it was too late for “Baby Ruby,” who died as a result of her injuries.
Further investigation revealed that the attack had occurred on the 800 block of McGarry Street, where the woman and her baby’s alleged attacker both worked.
Although the suspect at first fled the scene, he later gave himself up for arrest.
34-year-old Ricardo Augusto Utuy was booked for murder with a $1,000,000 bail.
