Curtys Taylor
OAKLAND – A couple has been arrested and charged with murdering Karla Ramirez-Segoviano last week, a 21-year-old volunteer with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
Ramirez-Segoviano’s body was found midday on November 3rd at Arroyo Viejo Park in Oakland, bludgeoned, stabbed several times and severely burned, almost beyond recognition.
Laura Rodgers, 23, and her boyfriend, Curtys E. Taylor, 23, both Oakland residents, were ordered by a judge on Monday to remain in custody at Santa Rita Jail without bail.
Oakland police arrested Rodgers at 11 p.m. on November 3 and Taylor was apprehended at 2 a.m. on November 4. Rodgers is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon, for allegedly stabbing Ramirez-Segoviano, while Taylor allegedly doused the victim with gasoline, before a match was used to set her on fire.
The victim who lived in San Leandro with her parents was reported missing on November 2, when she failed to return home. It’s believed that Ramirez-Segoviano drove “her friend” Rodgers to the park where Taylor was waiting for both women to arrive.
Car keys belonging to Ramirez-Segoviano were found in trash bin at a Days Inn in Hayward, along with knife and gasoline can that investigators recovered as murder evidence.
