ELK GROVE — An Elk Grove man who was arrested last week on suspicion of kidnapping a female minor in Woodland has had the charges against him dropped.

Rodney Q. Green was booked in Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment, child abduction, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and resisting arrest on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Elk Grove Police were contacted by Solano County’s Child Protective Services that same day at approximately 4:45 p.m. and asked to check on a teenage girl at a residence in Elk Grove on the 4600 block of Story Way.

The suspect told police he had not seen the girl in months, but police found her hiding in an upstairs master bedroom closet after searching the home.

Police originally reported that Green allegedly forced the girl into his car as she was walking down a Woodland street. However, after contacting the Elk Grove Police Department, Woodland Police Sgt. Brett Hancock reported on Thursday, November 17, that the minor had not actually been abducted in Woodland.

“She, in fact, called the suspect to have him pick her up, which he did,” said Sgt. Hancock. “What happened in Elk Grove after she was picked up, I do not know. Their department is currently investigating that.”

Added Sacramento District Attorney Media Officer Shelly Orio, “We declined to file charges pending further investigation.”

No information is being released about the girl’s identity or city of origin.
