SALINAS — Police are looking for Ellin “Omar” Escamilla after identifying him as the primary suspect in the murder of his parents — Ricardo Escamilla (71) and Amalia Bayardo Escamilla (65) — after they were found dead in their home early Tuesday morning.

A relative of the family entered the home on Essex Court early that morning and immediately noticed signs of a struggle, then walked outside and called police.

Officers arrived shortly, at which point they searched the house and discovered the deceased couple. An investigation soon revealed their son, Ellin (a.k.a. “Omar”) as the primary suspect.

A felony warrant was issued for his arrest on two counts of homicide. Officers believe he is somewhere in the greater Los Angeles area after a series of confirmed sightings, as well as the discovery of his Lincoln MKX parked in the area. He is believed to be heading to either El Centro or Yuma, Arizona, according to work and family history.

Autopsies confirmed that both Ricardo and Amalia Escamilla died of blunt force trauma.

Anyone with information regarding this case or which may lead to an arrest is strongly encouraged to call either 9-1-1 or the watch commander number at 831-758-7250.
