Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Drugs, Paraphernalia
EUREKA — On December 5th just before 4 PM, a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a stop at the intersection of Herrick Avenue and Elk River Road.
After he spotted what appeared to be a one-pound package of processed marijuana bud on the floor on the passenger side, a more elaborate search was conducted — which turned up another package of 380 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 616 grams of marijuana bud, 50 clear glass pipes, and additional packaging material.
Humboldt County Drug Task Force agents responded to provide assistance, eventually placing the passenger of the vehicle — 42-year-old Christopher Stacy — for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
A search warrant was also obtained for Stacy’s residence in the 6100 block of Humboldt Hill Road. Inside, agents discovered 4,498 grams of marijuana packaged and ready for sale, 22 grams of concentrated cannabis, 114.1 mg of Lorazepam pills, 1 gram of heroin, over 400 clear glass pipes, digital scales, and packing materials. Agents also seized $4,900 in cash.
Two suspects at the home — 38-year-old Brandy Cyphers and 55-year-old Richard Taylor — were arrested. Cyphers was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a residence for purposes of distributing a controlled substance. Taylor was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
The investigation remains ongoing. Those with information relating to the case or its suspects are encouraged to contact the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-444-8095 or the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 707-268-2539.
