Parents Arrested in Connection With Their Infant’s Death

Bradley Engman (L) and Amanda Hildreth (R)

SACRAMENTO — The two Lincoln parents of an infant who died in late November were arrested on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in connection with their child’s death.

Six-month-old Walker Engman died on November 27, 2016, after suffering head trauma.

The child’s father, Bradley James Engman, 23, was arrested by the child abuse bureau of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department on suspicion of murder, child abuse and child endangerment. The boy’s mother, Amanda Hildreth, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment.  Both were booked into Sacramento County Jail.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Engman drove his unresponsive son to the emergency room of a nearby hospital on November 26, 2016, just before midnight. Hospital staff were able to revive Walker initially, but the infant died several hours later.

An autopsy ruled out homicide as the cause of death, but did find that the child had suffered head trauma hours before he was brought to the hospital.

Sheriff’s officials also reported that evidence showed that the baby did not receive immediate medical attention by either parent. This led to an arrest warrant being issued for both.

Engman is not eligible for parole, while Hildreth is being held on $50,000 bail.
