Victim stumbled to this Taco Bell
South Sacramento rang in the New Year with a homicide, the region’s first, only hours into 2017.
Police are still investigating the case which has left little for them to go on other than the murder victim stumbling inside of a fast food restaurant in broad daylight.
Customers were enjoying bean burritos inside the Taco Bell at 5550 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Sacramento late Sunday morning when Police say a man stumbled in through the restaurant’s doors just after 11:30 a.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That’s when employees called 911.
The police who arrived at the scene moments later made contact with the man, whose name has not been released yet, as well as interviewing several of the employees and bystanders. From this information, the Police were led to believe that the man was shot in a vacant lot nearby.
Despite his traumatizing wounds, he somehow managed to walk the two blocks to Taco Bell.
The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital in order to receive emergency medical treatment for his wounds but unfortunately died shortly after being received by staff.
There is no known motive or additional information at this time.
This is not the way that South Sacramento wants to start out it’s new year, it may be the first homicide of the year but you can bet it certainly won’t be the last as the area has more than it’s fair share of violent crimes. It has been only 6 days since the last homicide in the immediate area on December 26 when a man was fatally gunned down in the street near 43 Ave, less than a mile away.
