HOLLISTER — Police have begun investigating what appears to be a growing pattern of drug-related armed robberies. In recent months, city pharmacies have been frequently targeted by unidentified assailants demanding pharmaceuticals at gunpoint.
The most recent incident occurred last Tuesday, December 27th, at around 8:15 AM at the ANSR Pharmacy on the 500 block of McCray Street. According to police, the suspect walked into the pharmacy brandishing a firearm and demanded drugs.
This is the third such incident reported in Hollister since August, when a similar incident occurred at the Rite-Aid on the 1700 block of Airline Highway. The second robbery, reported on November 17th, occurred at the same ANSR Pharmacy which was targeted just last month.
In all three cases, armed suspects entered the pharmacies and specifically demanded pharmaceuticals instead of cash, concealing their faces with bandanas or motorcycle helmets and fleeing by motorcycle once the robbery was complete.
Police are calling upon the public to keep a watchful eye and encourage anyone with information that may lead to an arrest to contact the department at 831-638-4115.
