Macy’s on Kew Avenue
RANCHO CUCAMONGA – Why do they run? The odds seem to be in favor of law enforcement whenever someone commits criminal acts and then attempts to successfully flee pursuing deputies.
38-year-old Francisco Banda and 29-year-old Desiree Villalobos tried their hand at running from the law, and they temporarily succeeded.
It began at 4:00 pm on Monday as they left the Men’s Macy’s store at 7855 Kew Avenue after a report of a commercial burglary there.
Authorities tried to make a traffic stop but the two suspects took off through Rancho Cucamonga and onto Interstate 10. Banda drove in and out of traffic and sometimes accelerated to over 100 mph.
In the interest of public safety deputies pulled off of the pursuit… on the ground. However, as the suspects traveled north on the 57 freeway and west on the 210, contact from the air via aviation law enforcement continued.
At 4:45, near a 76 gas station, members of the Arcadia Police department arrested Banda and, not far away, Villalobos.
The pair were booked for felony evading and commercial burglary with a bail of $100,000 each.
