Luther Foster (L) and Shantel Williams (R)
SACRAMENTO — The Sacramento man, woman, and minor male, who are suspects in the robbery of a Jamba Juice in Elk Grove on Saturday, January 7, 2017, have been arrested.
Luther Foster, 45, and a 17-year-old male held up a Jamba Juice on the 9100 block of West Stockton Boulevard on Laguna Boulevard. They stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
Fleeing from police, the chase ended with the two males opening fire on an officer and his police dog. They were running towards a parked vehicle on Dunisch Road where Shantel Williams, 41, was waiting in the driver’s seat when they were apprehended.
The officer fired back striking both Foster and the minor, who are expected to survive. They were cleared to leave medical treatment for detention.
Officer Christopher Trim, a spokesman for the Elk Grove Police Department, said two handguns were thrown away by the suspects. “Casings found indicated both handguns were fired.”
The policy dog, named Blu, was shot twice, but his injuries were not life threatening. He was released from the vet on Sunday, January 8.
While the officer was not injured, he will be placed on administrative leave.
Foster is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail. He faces several felony charges such as attempted murder, robbery, and causing serious injury to a police dog.
Williams was booked into jail on one count of felony robbery. Her bail was set at $50,000. No information has been released on the minor because of his age.
