Sandra Cuoto

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Mountain View Police Department has announced the arrest of a wanted theft suspect who used her working status as a housekeeper to steal items from homes she worked while the home owners were away.

According to the MVPD, “On Jan. 11 and again on January 12, a 36-year-old Mountain View resident stated she had gone to bed at her home on the 1900 block of Montecito Avenue and when she woke up in the morning, personal items as well as cash had been stolen from her home, despite the fact that her door had been locked.”

An investigation into the theft began which pointed to 39-year-old Sandra Cuoto, who was the only other person with a house key, being the most likely culprit.

According to MVPD Investigators, “detectives learned that Cuoto was responsible for thefts at other homes she had cleaned.”  It was thought that Cuoto had stolen multiple personal items, such as jewelry, cash, and small electronics.  The investigations into other possible thefts from other victims is still ongoing.

MVPD Officers arrested Cuoto Saturday, January 14, 2017, on suspicion of burglary, impersonation, and violation of her probation.

The Mountain View Police Department is asking that if anyone had employed Cuoto, and had items go missing to please contact Det. Andrew Wong at 650-903-6389.
