DURHAM — On the afternoon of January 18th, Butte County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the 9600 block of Midway after having been alerted to a burglary in progress.
Apparently, the property owner returned to find three suspicious individuals getting into their car and getting ready to leave the property. He then blocked the driveway with his own vehicle, detaining the suspects until police could arrive.
Deputies arrived and discovered that the trio had forced entry into two buildings and three Conex-type storage containers, as well as the residence on the property. Several stolen items were recovered from their vehicle and returned.
Arrested were 30-year-old Jedediah Asbury of Chico, 30-year-old Leroy Dillhyon III of Oroville, and 40-year-old Angelia McAlpin of Chico. All three are charged with burglary, possession of stolen property, identity theft, and conspiracy. As it turned out, McAlpin also had three open arrest warrants for burglary, vehicle theft, and failure to complete a work release program.
All three are housed at the Butte County Jail.
McAlpin’s bail has been set at $58,000, while Dillhyon and Asbury’s have been set at $57,000 each.
