SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department’s Robbery Unit has announced the arrest of a robbery suspect thought to have robbed more than four different businesses over the last few weeks of December of 2016, while robbing other cash-based businesses some time in the early part of January.
According to San Jose Officer Albert Morales, “the San Jose Police Departments Robbery Unit identified and arrested a suspect in a connection with a series of robberies of banks, check cashing stores, and pharmacies.”
According to surveillance footage and evidence collected at the scene investigators were soon able to identify the wanted suspect who had entered each businesses with the intent of robbing them by using a demand note before taking money, and/or narcotics from the business.
Sergeant Jaime Jimenez of the Robbery Unit stated, “Robbery Detectives had worked tirelessly throughout the investigation, which included interviewing victims and witnesses, gathering physical evidence, and conducting surveillance.” Personal strategies were shared to help provide a safer environment in order to help the victims who were robbed by the suspect.
It was during a month-long investigation that robbery detectives soon learned the identity of 45-year-old Robert Joseph Rainbow. Rainbow was identified as the person responsible for several robberies committed after December 19, 2016, with his final robbery occurring on January 10, 2017.
According to Morales, “On January 11, 2017, members of the Covert Response Unit located and arrested the 45 year old Robert Rainbow at a residence in San Jose.”
