Suspect Threatens to Shoot Officers at Children’s Playground

Pickleweed Park where Cab-Acosta was arrested

SAN RAFAEL — A 28-year old man incarcerated at Marin County Jail for $50,000 bail is also the subject of an arrest/hold request from the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

Jesus Cab-Acosta, 28, a local resident and dishwasher, was arrested on January 26 at a children’s playground in Pickleweed Park, near 50 Canal Street. The suspect was charged with making felony criminal threats and misdemeanor battery on a police officer.

Officers responding to a suspicious person call located a man whom allegedly threatened to shoot them in the head. Police said the suspect threatened them with a 9mm firearm as he reached into a fanny pack around his waistband.

An officer convinced Cab-Acosta to get down from playground equipment and handcuffed him. Police said the suspect continued making threats to kill officers, and kicked one officer twice on the shin, which caused pain, redness, and swelling.

Police restrained the suspect to protect themselves from further injuries. Cab-Acosta was then taken into custody at 12:13 p.m. last Thursday.
