Sajawal Chadhar
SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department announced the arrest of a known suspect in the suspicious death of a 40-year-old female victim, Leann Watson Chadhar. According to Officer Albert Morales, “On Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 8:47 AM, San Jose Police officers responded to the 2100 block of Coyne Court on a report of a dead body.”
Once SJPD officers arrived on scene it was determined that a female victim suffering from unknown causes was deceased.
Further investigation by the Santa Clara County coroner’s office revealed that the victim suffered from blunt force trauma due to being hit with a blunt object and it appeared that Chadhar had also been strangled.
San Jose Police following up on the cause of death returned to the residence and arrested the husband, 27-year-old Sajawal Chadhar. Chadhar was charged with homicide by detectives and is currently being held in the Santa Clara County North Main Jail in San Jose.
Police reported that it had been some time before Sajawal Chadhar had reported that his wife was unresponsive and not breathing. It appeared that he had tried to revive his wife but then tried to cover up her death by delaying calling for help.
The next court appearance has been scheduled for February 28, 2017, at 1:30 PM in Department 41. This is San Jose’s 5th homicide of 2017.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Paul Hamblin or Detective Jason Tanner of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283.
