Loaded Weapon Found During Parole Search, Gang Member Arrested

MERCED — On February 3rd, the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit met with known gang member Andrew Romero (19) on the 3200 block of Meadows Avenue.
Romero was sitting in his car with other gang members when contacted. Officers conducted a parole search of the car and found a loaded .357 revolver, which Romero is prohibited from having in his possession.
He was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail for felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and gang enhancements.
