MADERA — 26-year-old Xavier Correa had just gotten out of jail in Fresno County. He was on his way home to Merced County, riding with family, when they pulled into a gas station in Madera and an idea came to him.
Correa told them he was going to cut the clerk’s throat and rob the store, then pulled a knife from his backpack and set off toward the station.
His family was able to keep him distracted long enough for police to be notified and place him under arrest, both for the incident in question as well as a felony no-bail warrant out of San Luis Obispo County.
