Lead-Footed Juvenile Leads Police to Stolen Property

HOLLISTER — A 16-year-old juvenile stands accused of stealing a car and leading police on a high-speed chase before surrendering at the intersection of Buena Vista and Locust. He was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and other stolen property.

On February 10th, Hollister Police Officer Yamamoto was called upon to take a report of a vehicle stolen from a residence on Miller Road earlier that day.

Later that day, while on patrol, Officer Yamamoto spotted a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle and attempted a stop after noticing that the vehicle’s license plate had been removed.

The vehicle did not yield and proceeded down Locust Avenue at a high rate of speed, though the driver eventually wised up and pulled over.

As it turned out, the vehicle in question was the vehicle which had been stolen earlier. Officer Yamamoto also discovered marijuana in the car and the 16-year-old was arrested.

During booking, officers also noticed the rather expensive clothing the juvenile was wearing, which brought to mind a burglary reported on February 7th in which expensive clothing had been stolen from a vehicle. In the interest of due diligence, officers obtained a search warrant and visited the juvenile’s home, where they found several other items matching the description of the stolen clothing.
