SAN RAFAEL – Local resident 21-year-old Ryan Bartholomew Barkley Raikes was carrying concealed weapons and a can of pepper spray when he was arrested, following a traffic accident on March 10, police said.
Shortly after hearing a traffic collision, an officer who was driving near the intersection of Fifth and Lincoln avenues was flagged down by a driver with a damaged car, who reported being hit by another vehicle nearby.
The officer pulled over the vehicle being driven by Raikes, who told police he was returning home from his daily Methadone treatment and that he didn’t have a license to drive.
The suspect moved his shirt and the officer noticed a concealed dagger. When the officer ordered him not to reach for the knife the suspect told the officer that he was carrying a gun tucked behind his back. He was then held at gunpoint while the officer waited for assistance.
Shortly after more officers arrived, a concealed and fully loaded gun was found tucked in the suspect’s waistband, and a can of pepper spray was found in his possession, police said.
Raikes was charged with carrying loaded firearm, carrying a concealed dagger, driving without a license, and hit and run property damage.
