Chico Police: Body Found Near River To Be Investigated As Homicide

CHICO — On March 16th, the Sheriff’s Department received a report of what appeared to be a dead body having been discovered near River Road.
Deputies and detectives responded and were able to confirm the report. Identified through fingerprints, officers were able to determine that the body was that of 28-year-old Joseph Strickland.
Due to the circumstances, Strickland’s death is being investigated as a homicide and it is believed this was a “targeted incident.”
Strickland’s autopsy is scheduled for next week. Additional details are being withheld at this time pending the outcome of the investigation.
