CHOWCHILLA — On March 21st just after 2:20 AM, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a registration that had been expired since 2015. The driver, later identified as Michael Heffington, was also found to be driving without a license.
As officers approached the car to conduct a parole search, the passenger — later identified as Ryan George — leaped out and tried to run.
Officers caught him quickly and placed him under arrest, during which he kept trying to reach for his waist. After he was finally cuffed, a loaded firearm (which he’d dropped) was discovered, along with methamphetamine and other paraphernalia.
George was booked into the Madera Department of Corrections for weapons, drugs, and obstruciton charges. Heffington was cited for driving without a license.
